Dog or Puppy Names
Can’t think of what to name your new puppy?
The name you choose for your puppy is very important on how others judge your dog and also how they react to your dog. Your dog’s name also shows how you see your dog and your relationship with him. If your dog is in the public eye, like a search and rescue dog or a therapy dog it is important for your dog to convey the correct image.
When naming your new puppy consider using names that he can recognize easily. One syllable names will be much easier than two syllable names. You also want to stay away from names that sound similar to commands. You would not want to name him “Bo” or “Jo” they sound too much like the command “No”. Stay away from any name that sounds like “Sit”, “Stay”, etc.
You also want a name that is easy for you to call him. Giving him a name like “Constantinople” is a mouthful. You would get real tired of calling him. If you are going to have your dog around children and the elderly a name like “Killer” would not be wise, as most children and elderly would be leery of petting him.
As you watch your puppy a name will come to mind that just fits him, his personality, his behavior, and this stature.
